Hi,
(and sorry in advance to get in contact with you in english language...)
I just saw that the Swedish model railroad maker Brimalm is planning to realize the SJ class Z64: [
www.brimalm.com/en/future-models] (a bit down). Some very similar versions have found a wide spread at various privately owned railways in Germany ([
www.rangierdiesel.de/index.php?nav=1405405&lang=1]). As for almost all privately owned railway locos, also here no one equals another. Many of them have an adventurous life at different places and with several reconstructions and paintings. This on the one hand makes them fascinating. On the other hand, this can really become a nightmare for any model railroad maker (of course strongly depending on the degree of details you want to go for). Luckily, the number of variants (except from the painting) is kept within minimum for the Deutz Z64. As far as I can survey this, the most obvious variations are related to the form of the radiator grill as well as the arrangement of the back windows.
Since a long time ago, there is a strong desire for locos of privately owned railways in Germany, particularly in the fields of the prototype oriented model railroad. From my perspective, this trend is currently expressed by the Henschel DHG500 from Ade/Hobbytrade, the MaK 240C/MaK 400C from Real-Model or the Deutz BB1000/BB1200 from Saechsische Waggonfabrik Stollberg (all of them have been recently announced). Again from my perspective, particularly an Osthannoversche Eisenbahn (OHE) version of the Deutz Z64 would be highly interesting. They have had three of them, thereby being an inseparable part of the appearance for quite a long time. But also the Ruhr-Lippe Eisenbahn (RLE), the Köln-Bonner Eisenbahn (KBE) and the Häfen Köln have had several of this loco. Another idea would be to offer an unlabeled version painted in the typical (red or yellow) Deutz-style and adding decals for various versions, which need to be self-mounted. Maybe this would be a way to go for offering various versions with only little extra effort.
What is your opinion on this announcement? I actually would be highly intersted in this loco, manufactured in the Brimalm quality one is used to!
Best Regards,
Michael
